Seminoles beat Duquesne 47-7

Florida State’s defense was outstanding in the win over Duquesne. The Seminoles held Duquesne to just 164 yards of total offense, down from the 245 yards they managed against Boston College in 2016. The Seminoles’ defense forced eight punts and had five pass breakups. Jammie Robinson also made a key interception. Duquesne’s longest drive was nine plays for 44 yards, ending in a missed field goal. Florida State’s defense stopped Duquesne’s offense from scoring on the next drive.

Florida State’s second possession starts at its thirteen-yard line. The Seminoles’ running game starts strong with Treshaun Ward, but the Panthers’ defense can contain him. On double down, the Seminoles are faced with third and long. However, Rademaker completes a pass to Johnny Wilson for 51 yards. Then, Lawrance Toafili sprints into the end zone for a touchdown run. The Seminoles are now up 13-0 with 5:28 remaining in the first quarter.

Florida State’s defense held Duquesne to 71 yards of passing and 93 yards of rushing. The Seminoles also held Duquesne to seven points, their lowest total since the start of the Norvell era. The Rogers State University softball team has made a historic postseason run in the DII softball championship, beating top-seeded UT Tyler to advance to the National Championship Series. The Eagles returned from a 5-0 deficit in Game 1 and are now one win away from capturing their first national title. They will face No. 1 seed UT Tyler on Sunday, but if they can win Game 2, they will advance to Game 3 in the finals.

UT Tyler, Adelphi, and Auburn-Montgomery are the top-seeded teams in the D-II softball championship series. Rogers State will face eighth-seeded Cal State Dominguez Hills, a group that already defeated UT Tyler twice. The winner of game two will play a game against the winner of the first two games.

The Owls won their second game of the series in seven innings, despite allowing UT Tyler to score four runs in the first. The Eagles also tacked on two runs in the sixth inning. The win means Rogers State will advance to Denver’s DII softball championship series.

UT Tyler finished the season with a 41-5 record, a top-two seed, and advanced to the Division II World Series for the first time since moving from D-3 to D-2 last season. Seton Hill beats UT Tyler in the first game of the DII softball championship series.

The NCAA DII softball championship super regionals are underway this weekend, with the winner advancing to the championship final. After the super regionals conclude today, the two teams will play Saturday afternoon in the first game of the championship series. The winner of the first game advances to the championship final on May 27 in Denver, Colorado, and the losing team advances to the final on May 31 in Denver.

UT Tyler has been ranked all season and has already beaten Texas A&M-Kingsville in the super regionals. This is the first time the Texans have advanced to the DII finals from the D-3 level. The school is in its first appearance in the national tournament since winning the national championship in 2016.

UT Tyler enters the double-elimination bracket with a record of 47-7. They will face the champion of the West Region, Cal State-Dominguez Hills, which is 41-21 on the season. UT Tyler advanced from the NCAA South Central Regional 1 bracket, defeating Texas A&M-Kingsville in the South Central Super Regional.

After defeating North Georgia in Game 1 of the DII softball championship series, Cal State Dominguez Hills will look to rebound in Game 2. The Rams fell in a six-inning game on Monday, but Cal State Dominguez Hills must-win Game 2 to force the series to a third game.

The Seton Hill softball team is making history each game in the postseason. The No. 3 seed from the Atlantic Regional won’t be able to stop them. The Lady Rams won’t be able to catch them in the national championship game, but they can still make history if they take home the title.

A seventh-year head coach, Andrea Vaughan, has led the Hillcats to the championship. She took the program from 17-35 last year to No. 1 in the country this year. The Hillcats finished the season with a 58-10 record and went 11-1 in the NCAA Tournament. They also went undefeated in Denver, earning the first national softball championship in school history.

The third game of the DII softball championship series was a different story. Despite losing its first game to Seton Hill, the Irish swept the three-game series against Seton Hall. Notre Dame put up 16 hits and doubles. Three of them were home runs. The Irish’s three home runs came in the fourth inning.
